Vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI Tenor Saxophone Silver Plate, Serial #127167
Mark VI – 1965
This is a gorgeous vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI tenor saxophone in silver plate, serial number 127167.
The silver body looks stunning and shows no history of receiving major repair on ifs current silver finish. Its body tube, bow, bell, bell flare and bow cap are all in excellent condition. It is also with the original Mark VI tenor neck with matching serial number stamp. The neck is in outstanding condition. All of the key pearls on the sax still have a nice crisp feel under the fingers. A previous owner of this instrument has a complete restoration done on it while sparing no expense. The silver finish was restored and the engraving was then redone by master engraver Lynn Osborne ( who signed it) and the sax was then re-padded with a standard grade leather pad and brown nylon resonator.
This tenor has a very smooth response to air while producing and rich and crisp sonic character. The key work feels smooth under the fingers just like you want on a good Selmer. Compared to the earlier five digit models from the late 1950's this one is more centered. That being said it is still notably more open in comparison to the more recent Super Action 80 Series. At this time the tenor is playing through a fair number of leaks and is due to for a good set up. The tenor is currently awaiting service in our shop at this time. Our professional set up will include a dissemble and cleaning followed by necessary key fitting and a precise set-up. While the horn is apart we will also replace any needed materials and pads that are not up to our standards.
The tenor ships out in perfect playing condition with a fresh set up from our shop and a non original, but very nice wood hard case.
