HELP, I Want One!

Tremendous deal on a 1968 vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI tenor sax with American style engraving, serial number 156638. This tenor will ship with a fresh repad from our store, all included in the price, you can have reassurance that it will need nothing for a long time to come.

This tenor has the appearance of a horn that was factory relacquered years (decades) ago. Everything looks original on this horn, even the color is about right for this era, but the engraving is just a bit too faint for an original lacquer horn. You can tell it was factory job because, not only is the engraving still very good, but there is factory lacquer overspray on most of the pads; only a couple had been replaced since the job. While the sax has a smattering of shallow, cosmetic dimples in the tube near the right hand thumbrest, I see no signs of serious past damage or repair, including no resolders. The original neck once had an ever-so-slight pulldown, but that was corrected and there is no major lacquer loss from the repair.

With the old pads, the horn was playing, but definitely not optimal, so it will get the preferential treatment from our shop. Full teardown and cleaning, all new pads and material, and pro set up. We'll take everything back to factory specs, so it will feel much like the day it left the factory in 1968.

Currently playing through some leaks, I still get a sense of a more open Mark VI. Definitely not an overly dark horn, but still a strong core. Altissimo pops without even trying. A solid all-around Mark VI with versatility for any job you want to take it to.
