Selmer Mark VI – 1955

This is a 1955 vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI alto in original silver plate, serial number 61692. The alto was freshly polished in our shop and is now showcasing beautiful sleek look. The body is in excellent physical and does not show any signs of major past repair. The body tube, bow, bow cap, bell and bell flare with gold wash are in great physical condition. There has never been any re-solders performed on this saxophone.

The alto has a crisp silver finish showing around 90% coverage. Looking over the sax, you can see areas where the silver is “bubbling” up from underneath the silver. There are a few areas on the horn where the silver has worn down to the bare brass underneath. All of the original key work, guards and pearls are with this sax and are in great shape. It is also with the original Mark VI neck. The neck is in good shape also showing some wear to the silver plate. It is in great physical condition and has never been pulled down in the past.

This alto came into our shop on a set nice set of slightly older pads from another shop. It looks like it was last overhauled around 10 years ago and has been played on sparingly since that time. In order make sure the horn was up to our standards we have recently done a fresh set-up and silver clean on it. The work also included replacing any needed materials as well as fine tuning on the springs and key work.
