Cool players horn for fans of old Selmers. This is a 1939 vintage Selmer Paris Balanced Action tenor, serial number 28511. If you like that characteristic Selmer voice but want some more spread than the typically more focused modern horns, this is a great option.

This tenor has been around the block, but remains a solid player. It's been relacquered, and the engraving, while definitely fainter on the bell, is still visible. There's history of dent work and repairs around the body, all things that you'd expect from a tenor that spent a lifetime out in the real world getting played, and not just languishing in a case somewhere. The neck is still original to the sax.

Pads are all in excellent condition with little playing wear on them, and are fitted with metal seamless resonators. To make sure the sax is in premium playing shape when you get it, the horn will go through our shop before shipping and receive a pro set up. We'll clean it, clean and reseat pads, and optimize the action (springs and key heights) up and down. It being a Balanced Action, we'll set the tension a bit lighter than you'd typically find on a Mark VI or newer Selmer, so it has that ideal buttery feel that you want on an earlier model Selmer.

Sonically, this tenor blows with a big, bold voice and outstanding carrying power. It fills up a big room without much effort! Warm sounding, but not really what I'd consider an overly dark horn, it gives you flexibility to take in any direction you need to go. Solid all-around player at a good price for where these vintage Selmers are selling these days.
