Selmer Mark VI – 1965 with High F#

This is a stellar players horn, vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI tenor in original lacquer, serial number 130633. The tenor features the American style floral engraving and key work to high F#. At the time these saxophones were manufactured the high F# was only available as special order.

As shown in the photos the tenor is in solid condition while showing lots of honest play wear from its years of use. There's some past dent work in the tube and bottom bow, but nothing traumatic, and a couple past re-solders were done decently. We are not sure the neck is original to the sax, as it lacks the matching serial number. It is generally accepted that Selmer discontinued this practice around 134xxx, but even if it's not the original neck, it matches the sax well in color of lacquer and sonic response. The neck has been previously pulled down, but was more recently brought back to its true position.

The tenor was re-padded a few years back with red painted leather pads and domed metal resonators. The pads are in excellent condition and have not seen too much play time at this point. It was also serviced in our shop at the start of 2023 and is still playing great. Before it ships we will look at it once more to make sure it is still perfectly sealing as well as put a fresh neck cork on.

Mark VI's like this one are perfect for the pro player in need of something to use in a variety of settings. A fantastic workhorse tenor!
