HELP, I Want One!

This is an incredible deal on an early “5 digit” Selmer Mark VI tenor sax. This tenor, serial number 65246, has good pads and will ship with a fresh pro set up from our shop. If you've been on the hunt for a 5 digit but are tired of seeing those $10k+ prices, this is the horn you've been waiting for.

This Mark VI has been stripped at some point and is now bare brass. While not a looker (unless you like that aged, patina look), it has never been beat around and is in solid physical shape. The only real dent work I can find is on the bell flare, which was bent down on one side (we'll try to clean that up during our work to try to make it look a bit better). The original neck, with matching serial number, has never been pulled down, and the curve of the bottom bow looks great.

This tenor was last fully overhauled a few years ago, and well maintained ever since. It has firm leather pads matched with oversized seamless metal resonators. The horn will go through our shop before shipping to its new owner, where we'll clean and re-seat all pads, replacing any that are starting to show wear, as well as all felt/cork material. We'll also replace the one missing pearl (E key) as seen in the photos.

This tenor plays with a balanced, open tone. These early 5 digits tend to have a very warm sound, and while tonally it still feels warm, the bare brass has a certain resonance which really opens it up. Very fast response without losing its centered core. With the prices on vintage Selmers continuing to rise, it is nice to be able to make this one available for under $8k.
