Pro-Line Martin Tenor at a BARGAIN

Pictured above, we have a vintage Martin Magna tenor sax in gold lacquer with nickel-silver keys, serial number #212264. This was Martin's top of the line model for a brief period in the 1960s and 70s, while the Committee III is also a pro-line, the Magna had a few differences in sound and key work that helped it stand out.

The Martin Magna features full chromatic key-work from low Bb up to palm-F, front-F mechanism included for extending into the altissimo register. The key touches for the upper and lower stacks are nice and wide real mother-of-pearl for extra grip. Most of the long keys, all the palm keys, and the key guards are made from nickel silver to reinforce their shape. The neck has a signature front-side screw of Martin. The neck is robust, but non-original; it appears to be some sort of replacement from Martin with all details besides the matching nickel silver cross.

Saxquest has a large number of great vintage instruments in need of restorations we are now selling in as is condition. This particular tenor has potential but is going to need a very thorough restoration before it will be ready for any playing. Most of the lacquer is faded, the horn is in need of some repair to the body, the springs are ready to be replaced along with all the pads. It should also be noted someone drilled holes through the bell of this instrument.

Restoring this tenor is not necessarily an easy straight forward job but if you know a good tech with the right tools this horn can be made to play once more.

This horn will ship in as-is condition with the Martin replacement neck and hardwood box-case.
