This is a 1969 vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI bari sax in original lacquer, serial number 166614. This horn is pretty beat up at the moment, but it will get a full restoration from our repair shop in order to make everything right. You have to use your imagination a bit right now, but know that it will come out playing great!

The vast majority of Mark VI bari's out there are low Bb, so we always get a little excited when we get a low A in, especially so when it is in original lacquer. This one has been around, but we're going to fix it up good as new before shipping, with all work included in the price. We'll do all the dent work from top to bottom, clean up the past resolders so that they look great, replace all pads and material, and properly adjust everything back to factory specs. My techs have warned me that the work in the bottom bow especially will remove most of the remaining lacquer in the bottom bow, but the original lacquer through the rest of the body tube and bell will remain intact.

Once our restoration is complete, you'll be getting a solid low A Mark VI at a good price, and one that will be in perfect playing shape (so you don't have to worry about running to your tech all the time!). I really like these late 60's/early 70s Mark VI bari saxes, much more than the earlier “5 digit” models. They play much better in tune and keep that same full, robust, warm sound. I can't wait to play this one once we're finished with it!
