Late with Potential to be Great!
Here we have a Conn 10M tenor saxophone in gold lacquer, with nickel keys, serial number #L97901. This saxophone is on very old pads and materials, and they need to be changed out to restore it to playing condition. Currently it is not playing.

The 10M at the time of this saxophones manufacture had long since switched designs to straight drawn tone holes, rather than rolled. This change was enacted in the late 1940s. This horn still resembles the great 10M of the old days, the signature table design, the left side bell keys, the shape and the curve of the palm keys, and the real mother-of-pearl rollers on the table keys.

The 10M of the 1960s still came with 8 pearl key touches for the upper and lower stack keys, full chromatic key work from low Bb up to palm-F, front-F key included for extending into the altissimo.

Physically, this one is holding up in most areas but has sustained two heavy hits to the bell and the body-tube is bent. So even though some of the pads are sealing in some areas, there are bad leaks throughout. Luckily the blued-steel needle-springs are looking great with no signs of rust, no signs of resolders on any posts or braces. The lacquer has scrapes all across the horn, with a little wear near the neck-strap ring.

In general this horn will play just like a Conn 10M, maybe a bit less warm than the earliest units, but these horns have explosive potential volume-wise, after a full overhaul of course this one would be no different.

This horn will ship in as-is condition with its original double-socket neck in an Elkhart "Built by Buescher" hard-wood box case.
