HELP, I Want One!

Really nice early “5 digit” Selmer Paris Mark VI alto sax, serial number 70190. This horn looks incredible, with original lacquer in breathtakingly nice condition. It features American style engraving on the bell, original neck with matching serial number, and all of it is just about as pretty as they come.

Despite shipping from the factory in 1957, this alto looks incredible. There is very little real lacquer wear on the “front” of the sax, but there is some scratching and mild lacquer wear on the backside of the bell, as seen in the photos. The only previous repair is a shallow ding removed from the bottom bow and minor repair to the front of the bell flare, showing some lacquer loss from that work. The original neck has never been pulled down or damaged. It still shows most of the factory paint around the “S” of the octave key, and has only light typical lacquer wear despite its age.

The sax was fully overhauled in our shop a few years ago, using premium firm leather pads and the factory original metal screwback resonators. It was stored properly since and has seen little playing time since the work. We'll do a quick bench test before shipping and make sure it is still sealing up well before it ships.

This alto blows away your expectations, and delivers a warm, flexible sound, which retaining that characteristic Selmer core sound that sets it apart from anything else out there. Very responsive and resonant, and it takes all of the air you can push through it. Lovely tone that is as sweet as you'll find. The sax ships in its original hard case which is also close to perfection, though the stitching on the back bottom side has come loose along the long edge (see the pictures).
