HELP, I Want One!

This is a gorgeous, very lightly used Selmer Paris Reference 54 tenor saxophone in gold lacquer, serial number 820870. The serial number dates this sax to just a couple years old, and as you can see in the photos, it is as nice as you will find. The sax will get a fresh pro set up from our shop before shipping, and go to its next owner in tip-top playing shape.

This tenor is about as nice as a used horn can be. There may be a stray scratch here or there if you look closely, but no lacquer wear at all, even on the touch points. There are obviously no dents, dings, previous repairs, or any damages of any kind. The body features beautiful hand engraving in spots up and down the body tube, and looks incredible. The neck is perfect too, with no lacquer loss, all the factory paint still on the “S” of the octave key, etc.

Pads are obviously still in new condition with factory brown plastic resonators, with no playing wear on them. The sax came to us on mostly factory material, so to make sure it lasts for the long haul, we'll replace that will better synthetic cork that will last longer and feel better under your fingers. We'll also do a full clean inside and out, and optimize key heights and spring tensions for intonation and response.

I've liked the Reference 54 since the day it was introduced, and especially have been a fan of this gold lacquer model since it was made available as an option a few years later. It retains the warm, dark sound of the original “vintage matte” Reference 54, but definitely feels more open and has a faster, more lively response. Very big sound without sacrificing tonal color. This is a great opportunity to pick up a recent model Reference 54 at an unbeatable price. Ships in its original Selmer Paris contoured Reference case.
