This is a freshly restored vintage Selmer Paris Mark VII alto sax in original lacquer, serial number 304613. This alto was just overhauled in our shop and is ready to go for a long time to come.

The body of this alto is in tremendous shape. There is just 1 past repair that I can spot: one foot of the low Eb keyguard has been resoldered. I see no signs of past dent work and no other repairs. The bell flare, bottom bow, bell-to-body brace, and original neck are all in pristine condition. The original lacquer on the body is as perfect as they come with only minimal surface wear from light use. Unfortunately the lacquer on the keys is pretty worn off, most likely from getting too hot during pad removal in the past. Many of the key cups are bare brass, so while they are shiny now from recently being cleaned during our work, they will tarnish over time.

This also was just restored in our shop by Aaron Standing, using premium firm leather pads and brown nylon resonators. All material has been replaced, and the action has been optimized up and down. The keywork really does feel like a new horn under your fingers; based on how it feels, you'd never guess the sax came out over 40 years ago!

Sonically, this alto takes your air very efficiently without a lot of back pressure. Very full sound, and it really screams when you push it! Still, it keeps a strong focus and its solid foundational core doesn't “come apart” even at full volume up in the altissimo. A really dynamic player and a great price for a vintage Selmer Paris.
