Freshly restored Selmer Paris Mark VI alto sax in original lacquer, serial number 226193. This alto was just repadded in our shop and comes in tip-top playing shape, backed by our full year warranty. It is playing up a storm and ready to go!

This Mark VI was overhauled by Derick Tramel, using Valentino Pro leather pads and oversized, seamless metal resonators. The action has been precisely adjusted and feels great, with a buttery fluid feel under your fingers. Everything has been optimized.

In the looks department, this Mark VI will not disappoint. The original lacquer shows only mild wear for its age, and still sports excellent coverage throughout its body and keys. The only previous repair I can see is the low C keyguard, which has been resoldered. Very minor past dent work on the backside of the curve of the bottom bow, but done so well that you'd never guess it by looking at it. The neck is not original, but it is a true vintage Mark VI neck. The neck once had a pickup, which we've removed and sealed with a flush plug. The work is flawless, showing only minor lacquer loss for the heat.

These later vintage Mark VI's are a great deal for pro players looking for a quality Selmer Paris without spending “early Mark VI” kind of money. When the horn is in great shape like this one, all the better. This alto plays with a concise and clear attack, with a fast response. It has a warm sound but not too dark – one note and you clearly know it is a Mark VI.
