This is as close to a mint Mark VI as you will find: a 1955 vintage Selmer Paris model with 99.9% original lacquer intact. It has just been overhauled in our shop by George Bunk and is nearly perfect. A great find for serious collectors!

The pictures don't do this horn justice. The lacquer is in tremendous shape. There's some lacquer wear on the right hand thumbrest, some stray scratches here or there, and a couple small wear spots if you look around closely, but that's it. Even the majority of the touch points are flawless. It goes without saying, but there are no dents and no resoldered joints. George removed one tiny ping in the back curve of the bottom bow, with only light lacquer loss from the work. The original neck (with matching serial number) has never been pulled down and looks fantastic with minimal lacquer wear on the octave key. It really is a museum quality sax that we could easily display in our museum, but instead, have decided to make available.

Our pro overhaul included all new Valentino Pro leather pads, while retaining the original Selmer screwback metal resonators. It all new premium felt and cork work through, and the action has been set back to factory specs. It feels like a new horn under your fingers; playing it is like stepping back in time.

As you'd expect for such a very early vintage Mark VI, this sax plays with a definite dark, warm tone, with a good response from top to bottom. It gives you just a hint of resistance to push against, but remains an overall free blowing alto. Ships in its original case which is also in very nice shape, with minor shelf wear on the stitching around the case.
