This is a vintage Selmer Paris Super Balanced Action alto saxophone, serial number 48498. The SBA is known for its ultra quick response to air flow and intense sonic character. This one in particular does have a fairly brilliant color in comparison to many early Mark VI altos.

The pictures of this sax tell its story the best. It was re-lacquered in the past and has seen quite a bit of play time since then. The saxophone features all of the original key work as well as the key guards. Its floral engraving around the bell area is very clear and well defined. The body tube, bow, bow cap and bell areas are all in excellent shape. This saxophone has the original neck with matching serial number stamp. The neck shows similar cosmetic condition to the body of the saxophone but does not show signs of receiving any major repairs in the past.

This alto was professionally played on extensively by the last owner until the time of their retirement. It came into our shop on a set of old pads very past their prime. As such the saxophone is currently in line in our shop to receive a restoration. The work will include a complete disassemble, cleaning, precise key fitting and a fresh set up. Once complete the sax will be in perfect playing condition with a new set of Valentino premium leather pro pads, metal domed resonators as well as all new corks and felts.

These altos are ideal for the player looking for the smooth response of a five digit Selmer with a slightly sweeter sonic color. This alto ships out in perfect playing condition with a fresh overhaul from our shop and a new Protec Max case.
