C.G. Conn 1934
This is a vintage original silver plated C.G. Conn “naked lady” engraved alto sax, serial number 256578. This alto is technically a transitional but is basically a 6M in all but name, as all of the keywork is 6M-style. The Conn 6M is a very idiomatic item of the big band and early be-bop era. They are very free blowing and colorful players. Blues players also love them for their powerful sound and ample projection.

The Conn altos from this generation feature rolled tone holes, 6M style table keys, micro tuner neck with double socket receiver and swivel thumb rest. This particular alto shows off a nice original silver finish with some finish wear in the normal areas. The body tube and bell are both in very good physical condition. All of the tone holes are in good original condition. It looks like there was some dings taken out of the bow at some point. The original neck is in great shape and has never been pulled down. Its micro tuner is present and fully functions.

This alto was overhauled at Saxquest in 2018. All of the pads and metal domed resonators are in great shape and have a ton of life left in them. The sax is currently in line to receive silver cleaning and a fresh set-up. It will soon be back in top notch playing condition.

This alto ships out in perfect playing condition with a non original case.
