J'Elle Stainer Compact Contrabass Eb Sax - Ready To Play
Set-Up and Ready To Go!
Here we have a compact contrabass Eb sax by J'Elle Stainer, no serial number included. This one is keyed from low B up to C# with no palm keys, so it's all about that bass. These are in the same key as a Tubax sax, where it is 1 full octave lower than the baritone sax would be. Included is a long peg that will give you 7 extra inches of extension past where the peg on the larger bow is installed.
In comparison to other bass-type saxes, this one plays with a more modern sound, reminiscent of a P. Mauriat but a bit darker and more spread.
The mechanisms have been tightened and set up by our repair tech Josh Creekmore so it's playing great. This horn has clearly been re-shaped in multiple areas, the bow, the bell, and some of the body-tube have evidence of dent removal.
