This is a very nice 1926 vintage C.G. Conn New Wonder Series II “Chu Berry” model alto sax in original matte silver plate, serial number 193212. This alto shows excellent original silver coverage with only minor finish wear on the usual touch points. Currently in our shop in line for a fresh overhaul, it will come to you all cleaned up and with new pads, ready to enjoy for a long time to come.

Physically the horn is mostly straight, but there is some dent work that we're going to do while it is in our care. As you can see in the photos, the bottom bow has a number of dings and dimples. We'll remove those, as well as clean up a couple resolders (like on the backside alt F# keyguard) and make sure everything is tip top. We'll hand polish the silver so that it shines like new, and optimize spring tensions and key heights top to bottom.

This sax features rolled tone holes (which have never been filed on) and has its original neck with microtuner mechanism. The neck has never been pulled down or damaged, and the microtuner spins freely. Our overhaul will include all new premium firm leather pads fitted with seamless, oversized nickel domed resonators.

Currently playing on old pads, you can still get a sense of the warmth this alto has. I can't wait to play it once we've restored it, as I love the easy nature of these old Conns and how responsive they are to your airstream.
