Vintage Selmer Paris Super Series 'Cigar Cutter' Alto Sax at Great Price - Serial # 15828

This is a 1932 vintage Selmer Paris “Cigar Cutter” series alto sax, serial number 15828. This is a great horn for players who like that early vintage Selmer sound. It is a fine player and a cool horn people who like this horns, but don't want to play collector's prices.

This alto was relacquered awhile back, and done pretty well. The factory stamping around the bell is still deep with all markings clearly legible. The only modification I can find is someone added some metal risers, soldered onto the side Bb/C/high E keys, as seen in the photos, to bring those normally flat keys up closer to your palm. The rest of the horn is factory and in great shape. I see no evidence of past dent work or repair. The bottom bow, bell flare, and neck are all in great shape.

This alto is playing decently on a set of older pads, fitted with brown plastic resonators. It is blowing through some minor leaks but still plays very well, and has a brighter sound than I was expecting. Very robust and full, with excellent clarity. We're offering it as-is on the existing pads, to keep the price down for its next potential owner. Ships in a good vintage hard case, with green cloth case cover.
