Here's a very nice original lacquer Conn “Connstellation” model 28M alto sax, serial number. This alto spent the last few years on display in the Saxquest museum, but we've decided to let it go to a new collector.
The 28M was evidence of Conn's ingenuity running away with itself. The keywork is redesigned everywhere you look. There just isn't another model out there like this one, which is why the Connstellation has been a mainstay in sax collections for decades.
Since we previously had this in our museum, you know it's going to be nice. Physically it is very straight. There is one tiny dent in the bottom bow right on the guard (very superficial), and the bell flare was previously bent in one spot, which has been corrected. The upper lyre mount is slightly pushed in, but we've held off on doing in dent work for fear of hurting the lacquer. There are no resolders. The original lacquer is 95% intact, with only minor wear on a couple touch points, and one spot on the bell as seen in the photos. The original large plastic keyguard is nearly perfect. There is one small chip missing, and a single tiny crack leading away from that chip. All of the screws tighten in down in place. This plastic guard will be removed during shipping to insure it gets to you safely. The sax does have its original double socket neck with unique underslung octave key.
The sax is currently in all original Conn reso-pads and as such, is not playing well. For collectors who want it all original, this is a bonus, but if you plan on playing the horn, you will need to get it repadded. The sax does not have its original case, but will be shipped safely.
