Contest background

This instrument company founder worked at the benches alongside his employees to learn the causes of imperfections in musical instruments. He demanded that flaws be corrected. He even went so far as to sponsor a 12-piece band that played at the factory 3 times a week, not only for the enjoyment of his people, but also as a test of his instruments. He listened with a discerning ear, and many improvements came from these concerts and discussions with the musicians afterward. This instrument founder also pioneered the use of silver in instrument bells to further enrich the sound and overtones.
