In 2009 song writer, producer and pianist Allen Toussain recorded his first album for Nonesuch.  The album was a salute to the music of his native city of New Orleans. It features traditional music and standards by Monk, Ellington, Morton, Oliver and Bechet.  It also showcased an all star band with Nicholas Payton and Brad Mehldau among others. A musical high point of the album is the piano and tenor sax duet on Duke Ellington's “Day Dream.”
