HELP, I Want One!

Freshly Overhauled In the Saxquest Shop
This is a lovely C.G. Conn Gold Plated New Wonder II “Chu Berry” alto saxophone, serial number 168431. The Saxquest shop just finished putting a fresh overhaul and shine on this beauty. The work included a complete dissemble, cleaning and polishing of the instrument. The cleaning and shine portion was followed by precise key fitting and replacement of all the pads, corks and felts. It is now sporting a brand new set of leather Valentino pads metal domed resonators, new corks and felts. It was  precisely regulated from top to bottom . It is now in perfect playing condition.

This alto shows off original gold plated finish. It also features beautiful floral engraving around the bell area with a unique center portrait of a woman with a bonnet. The construction of the alto has rolled tone holes, trill G#, front F, fingernail file G# key in the left hand as well as the original micro tuner neck. All of the pearls are in great shape as well. It also has the original pearl rollers in good condition. This alto has a rich full and deep resonating sound. In comparison to other Chu Berrys from the same period the gold plating on this one gives it a warmer slightly more robust sonic quality.

This alto shows signs it was an actively played instrument in its day but was very well taken care of by the previous owner. There a few spots around major touch points on the horn where you can see the silver plating and raw brass showing from under the gold plate. The body tube, bow, bell and bow cap are all in fantastic original condition. This sax has all of the original key work and guards. The guards are all in very good condition. There is history of some light solder work to bottom guard foot of low Eb and the alternate F# key guard. The sax also shows a previous repair to the palm D key.

The Conn alto was just freshly set up and re padded by Josh Creekmore in the Saxquest shop and is now in perfect playing condition. Please do not miss out on this beautiful Conn alto.
