King Super 20 Silver Sonic
This is a remarkably pretty original lacquer King Silver Sonic Tenor Sax, serial #420614. It is very rare to find a horn of this vintage in such beautiful condition. This horn has not seen much playing time at all for its age and would be an exquisite horn for collectors or players alike.
Cosmetically the horn is in fantastic condition. The lacquer is 98.99% intact and the engraving is as clear as a bell. This horn was manufactured at the H.N. White Company in Cleveland in 1967 and is considered to be an early Series V Super 20. It features the later and more ergonomically friendly bell key cluster. It also shows off engraving on the B and Bb key cups and a single socket sterling silver neck. The neck is in great shape and has never been pulled down or damaged in the past. This saxophone is currently in line to be professionally overhauled in the Saxquest shop. It came into our store in great shape with no history of major repair and no re-solders. There are a couple of small and hard to see dings we will remove as part of our overhaul. The Saxquest professional overhaul will include a new set of Valentino premium pads, metal resonators, new corks, felts and a precise regulation of the key work. Out tech will also remove the old electronic pick-up from the neck as part of the overhaul.
The Silver Sonic Tenors are some of the loudest and most free-blowing tenors around. They tend to lean towards the brighter side but are very flexible in terms of tone. These are ideal for rock, R&B, pop, and jazz musical situations as they tend to lean towards a more spread and punchy sound. This horn ships in its original case. It is currently in line for a professional overhaul in our shop and will be in perfect playing shape when finished. Do not miss out on a killing American vintage tenor saxophone.
