HELP, I Want One!

This is a late 1950's vintage Buescher Aristocrat series tenor sax, serial number 357335. This was the last of the “good” Bueschers made, before Selmer bought the company in 1966 and really started cheapening the brand. It is a quality tenor for advancing players looking to get into a classic American tenor at a low price.

This tenor looks fantastic, with original lacquer in that 90-95% range. There's a few tiny pings, no bigger than the size of a pencil point, but no real dents or previous repairs to speak of, including no resolders. The neck is original, with a very slight previous pulldown that has been corrected. This tenor was just completed repadded in another shop, using Pisoni pads and all of the original hardware: original snap-in metal resonators, original gold plated Norton springs, and original amber rollers.

I found this tenor to be a very versatile player. It has a definite warmer quality in its tone, allowing you to take it in a darker direction with the right mouthpiece, but also plays very open and slightly spread. It has a nice resonance that you can feel under your fingers at bigger volumes. Followers of Saxquest know that we are big fans of these later vintage Bueschers, it is truly a hidden gem for serious players who want a great horn without breaking the bank.
