HELP, I Want One!

This is a quality, early vintage C. G. Conn 10M tenor sax in original silver plate, serial number 276976. This tenor looks fantastic, coming in new pads and with a fresh set up from the Saxquest repair shop. You'd be hard pressed to find a nicer example of such an early 10M.

As you can see in the photos, the original silver plating on this horn is in fantastic shape. While there is a fair amount of finish wear on the original neck, the horn itself shows only nominal playing wear. There's some past dent work in the bottom bow area, which feels a bit lumpy (we'll try to make that a bit better in our shop before shipping), there's only 1 resoldered joint, under a post on the body tube. No other previous repairs. The bell flare is perfect and the tube is straight. A neckstrap extension has been added for a more modern playing position, but this can easily be removed if the buyer wishes. This tenor has the improved 10M table keys, and the iconic naked lady engraving on the bell.

Pads are newer and in excellent shape, fitted with quality oversized seamless metal resonators. The sax will go through our repair shop before shipping, where it will receive a fresh cleaning and polishing of the silver plate, new material throughout, and we'll check all pads for seating. We'll make sure it is in tip-top playing shape before shipping it out.

This tenor plays with the big sound you'd expect from a top shelf pro 10M. Very fast and free response, open and spread sound, but it loses none of its warmth and core, even at bigger volumes. This is a wonderful player, that hearkens back to the jazz standards of the 30s and 40s.
