Two Necks
This a vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI tenor saxophone, serial number 167847. If you are looking to get a solid playing Mark VI at a great price this one is going to be very appealing. This tenor has a quick and smooth response to air flow. The key action is crisp and fluid under the fingers allowing for an easy play. Its core sound has a rich presence and leans a little on the brighter side regarding color. Currently it is in our shop awaiting a through professional set-up. The Saxquest professional set-up will include a complete dissemble and cleaning. The saxophone will then be precisely regulated and all of the cork and felts will also be replaced. It comes set-up on its current set of leather pads and brown plastic resonators. The pads are in nice shape and have plenty of life left in them.
This tenor is in solid physical condition while  showing a history of an active life. It was re-lacquered in the past and shows minor dent work as well as a handful of re-solders on some of the lower key guard feet. (pictures 13 and 18) This saxophone includes the original Mark VI and an after market Peter Ponzol neck. The Mark VI neck has some history of repair. It previously had the octave key saddle re-soldered and an electric pick-up removed. Chris Funck from our shop just completed repairing the neck the right way with a flush plug. (picture 29)
The Peter Ponzol neck plays noticeably warmer on this saxophone and gives the instrument a slightly different angle.
If you are looking to get into great playing VI and are on a budget you will not want to pass on this Mark VI.
