The Martin Tenor
This is a lovely original lacquer Martin Committee III “The Martin” tenor saxophone, serial number 167852. The sax is a great looker with over 90% of the original lacquer intact. It was professionally re-padded in 2017 with premium leather pads and TM Custom metal resonators. We will also check it out in our shop before shipping it out to ensure it arrives in perfect playing condition.

The body of the saxophone is in excellent original condition. It shows some modest cosmetic play wear and some speckled finish wear here and there. There are a few ting; cosmetic pings around the bottom bow area. The saxophone shows no history of serious past body repair and no re-sodlers. The original neck shows the matching serial number stamp and has never been pulled down.

This Martin is quite a powerful free blowing player and is a fine choice for anyone after a classic American vintage tenor. The action is crisp and smooth under the fingers showing off optimal key heights. Sonically the Martin is on the brighter end of the color spectrum and has an exceptional clear projecting sound. It can be played with plenty of sensitivity but really blossoms when you are in need of edge and power.

The last owner also had the saxophone outfitted with a larger after market thumb rest. This thumb rest was custom made by Lance Burton. The larger size provides more room and additional comfort for the balance in the right hand. The original sliding Martin thumb rest is also included with this saxophone.

This tenor ships out in perfect playing condition in a Hiscox hard case.
