Super Balanced Action Alto – 1948

This is a fairly early vintage Selmer Paris Super Balanced Action alto saxophone in silver plate, serial #36707. The alto is smooth in response and features a clear and intense sonic character. Its key work is ultra fluid under the fingers allowing for a great feel and fantastic playing experience.

The body of the alto is physically in solid condition while showing signs it has seen a fairly active life. Its silver finish is most likely not original but it does not show any signs of major past abuse. The current silver looks pretty clean and shows off clear engraving around the bell and upper bow areas. Its body tube, bow, bow cap and bell are all in great shape. This saxophone has all of its original key work and key guards.

This alto looks like it has seen a large number of gigs over the years. It came in to our shop on a set of older roo pads that are all pretty well used up. As such it is currently in line in our shop awaiting a professional overhaul. The Saxquest overhaul will include a dissemble and cleaning followed by key fitting, spring optimization and a fresh set-up with all new Valentino premium pro pads, new metal domed resonators as well as all new corks and felts.

This SBA will ship in perfect playing condition with our professional overhaul and a vintage wood hard case with latches.
