Freshly Overhauled – Superb Player!
This is a very sweet playing Selmer Paris Super Balanced Action baritone saxophone in original lacquer, serial number 51832. A late vintage original lacquer SBA baritone keyed to low A is not a common item. This one is in tremendous condition showing some modest play wear across the original lacquer finish. The baritone has been overhauled by Josh Creekmore in the Saxquest shop. It is in now in perfect playing condition and is now ready for a new home.

The body of the bari is in outstanding physical condition from top to bottom. Its original lacquer finish shows the proper dark honey tint which is nicely complemented by the clear American floral engraving. This saxophone is keyed to low A. It shows an early example of a tilting key arm for the low B, Bb, C# left hand table keys. The key work on the top and bottom stacks have a superb compact feel under the fingers and allow for ultra fluid movement. There has been history of dent and solder repair on this baritone. At some point in the past the body tube was removed from the bow in order to properly address needed repairs. As it sits the body tube, bow, bell and bow cap are all in very nice condition. The low Eb key guard feet have been repaired. The bell rim of the instrument is in great shape currently but it does show the loss of lacquer around its outer “flare” from a previous repair. This saxophone does include the original neck with matching serial number stamp. The neck is in great shape and show matching serial number.

If you are looking for something with smooth response and very little resistance you are going to quickly fall in love with this SBA. This baritone takes the air in quick and easy. It produces a lush sound rich in overtones and full of color. In comparison to the modern Selmer the SBA is much more robust and is considerably more spread and free blowing.  It was just freshly overhauled in the Saxquest shop by Josh Creekmore. Josh took his time and did this one up right. The work included a dissemble, cleaning and precise key fitting. It now is sporting a brand new set of Valentino premium leather pads with metal domed resonators. All of the cork and felt materials are also brand new.

This baritone ships in perfect playing condition in a used protec case. If you have any questions about this saxophone please send us a product question or a message direct to zac@saxquest.com.
