HELP, I Want One!

Gold Plated Selmer
This is a lovely 1929 vintage gold plated Selmer Paris “New Large Bore” alto saxophone, serial number 11895. The last person to own this instrument had some service work done to it many years ago and since then it mostly stayed in the case as a collectors piece. Its body is in exceptional physical condition, especially considering it is now 91 years old. The New Large Bore was manufactured with similar key work to its predecessor the Modele 26 but has a larger bore. The Large Bore models still feature a fairly spread sound compared to the modern Selmers but for the time it was considerably fuller while also being more precise.
The body of the sax does not show history of any major past repair. The body tube, bow, bow cap, bell and bell flare are all in excellent original condition. There is no signs of past re-solders. All of the original key work, posts, guards and guard feet are in outstanding original condition. The original neck is with this saxophone and is in very good condition. It was very slightly pulled down at some point in the past.
This alto is currently playing on an old set of pads down to low Bb through leaks. It is not playing perfectly but is a very colorful player with a warm color and a free blowing response to air. In its current condition it is ideal for a collector who might occasionally playing it around the house but is mostly using it for display in a larger collection. If you wanted to do any amount of serious playing on it the saxophone will ultimately need to be overhauled first. Because of the strong collector factor of this saxophone we are selling it in as in condition.
Saxophone ships with vintage wood hard case.
