Store Information
This is a great price on a vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI tenor sax, serial number 103372. This tenor is real close to the “5 digit” realm, so if you are looking for that kind of sound and response, you can save a bundle by picking this one up for a much lower price.
This tenor is solid from top to bottom, with just a few signs of past work. There's a couple small dents and past dent repair, which we'll clean up in our shop before shipping. The sax was relacquered long ago and re-engraved in the original style (American), and the “newer” engraving really pops off the horn and looks fantastic. The original neck (with matching serial number) once had a mic pickup which has been removed. There is currently a patch over the hole, but we'll take that off and properly seal it with a flush plug. There will be some minor lacquer loss from our work, but in the long run it is a better solution. The neck has a very slight pulldown, which we'll also correct.
This Mark VI came to us on very old pads, so do it right, it is currently in our repair shop in line for a fresh repad/overhaul. We'll do a full disassembly and cleaning, all necessary dent work, the above mentioned neck work, and replace all pads and material. The action will be optimized with a medium-open key height and medium-ish spring tension, with everything feeling even.
I can't wait to give this tenor a whirl once our work is complete, as I expect great things out of it. Ships in a Walt Johnson fiberglass case.
