Players Special – Low Bb Mark VI Baritone Sax
This is a vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI baritone saxophone, serial number 110156. If you are search of a hands down knock out player at a great price point this Mark VI is going to be a great way to go. This is an exceptionally free blowing instrument and can be played with an immense amount of power when desired. It does play with a little bit of a brighter bite to it compared to a lot of the other Mark VI baris we have had in the shop.
The pictures tell the story of this baritone the best. Like many of the great baritones out there this one has had a long history of performance as well as history of body and solder repair. It was re-finished and then re-engraved. The American floral print has a crisp and well defined look across the bell area.
Many of the posts and key guards have been repaired as well as the upper J tube and bow cap. A few of the key guards are not original. This bari was recently professionally serviced in another shop and is now playing up a storm. It does feature a brand new set of premium leather pads and brown nylon resonators.  A previous owner of this saxophone had the traditional black octave key thumb rest replaced with a stylish wood touch piece. This saxophone does include the original neck with matching serial number. Like the body of the sax the neck has previously had some dings removed and is now in raw brass with no remaining lacquer. The saxophone also includes an additional Yamaha 62 neck in gold lacquer. In play testing the horn with both necks the 62 neck seems to keep a tighter consistency from top to bottom regarding pitch. (The independent pics of the 62 neck are with the red back drop)
This is an ideal instrument to pick up for the active pro who is looking for a killer player with out getting into the high price range of most Mark VI's. If you have ever said to your self “ I want a horn to help me lay down my fire licks and cut over a loud band” then this sax would be a great choice. It is being sold at a great price and is a strong player despite not being the prettiest horn in the shop.
