Sweet Players Horn - Mark VI Alto 1966
If you are looking to get into a fabulous Mark VI with out getting into the high Selmer price bracket this alto is going to be hard to pass up. It plays with a fat, free blowing and open sonic character. In terms of color this sax does lean a little on the warmer side while demonstrating very clear protection. The key work is smooth and completable under the fingers just like you want on a good Selmer.
At some point in the past the horn was re-lacquered. Its current finish has a clean look with crisp engraving and a nice color. The body tube, bow, bow cap and bell are all in very nice shape. In very close examination of this alto it looks like someone did do a solder repair to the alternate F# key guard. The neck with the saxophone is an earlier vintage Mark VI neck serial number 107640. This neck is in very good condition and has no history of past pull downs. The 107 neck also a neck featuring the preferred low neck saddle.
When the sax came into or shop it was playing pretty nicely on a set of good pads from another shop. But to take it to 110% Saxquest tech George Bunk spent some time with to fully do the sax justice. The set-up included a precise regulation of the key work and replacing all of the needed materials. It is now sporting all new corks and felts. The pads and resonators are a mix of premium leather pads and both nylon and metal resonators. The pads are all in great shape.
This sax ships out in perfect playing condition with our pro set-up and a new Protec Max case. If you have any questions about this sax please send us a product question or an e-mail directly to zac@saxquest.com
