HELP, I Want One!

Balanced Action Tenor 1938
This is a vintage Selmer Paris Balanced Action tenor manufactured in the late 1930's. As with many of the best players it has seen its fair share of play time in its life. But looks aside the tenor shows no signs of slowing down. This sax is currently in line in our shop for a complete mechanical restoration. Once complete the sax will be in perfect paling condition and ready for a new home.
Like many of the Balanced Actions out there this horn has been re-lacquered at some point in the past. The majority of the current finish is also off the horn leaving a more organic raw brass look across most of the body. It is with the original neck as well as all of the original key work. The neck looks like it was slightly pulled down in the past but has sine been corrected. There is history of past repair and solder work on this tenor. Because the horn was once re-lacquered it is impossible to know the exact history of repair it has had.

Balanced Actions models are known to have a wider and more diffuse sonic quality compared to the more recent models manufactured by Selmer. This particular horn is no exception. It takes the air in easy and is an extremely free blowing saxophone. The sound on the sax definitely has a lush sweetness about it as well.
This tenor came into the shop on an older set of pads. As the horn is more than worthy of proper TLC it is currently in line in our shop for full preferential treatment. The Saxquest professional overhaul will include a dissemble, clean up of the body and past solder work followed by key fitting and replacement of all materials. The new set-up on the tenor will feature brand new corks, felts, metal dome resonators and a new set of Valentino Pro Pads.
This saxophone ships out in perfect playing condition with a fresh overhaul from our shop. Once the work has been complete we will put up a fresh set of photos. In the meantime please let us know if you have any questions.
