This is a gorgeous vintage Selmer Super Balanced Action alto sax in silver plate, serial number 43090. This alto shows beautiful original silver plating and looks absolutely incredible. As an added bonus the saxophone features keywork to high F# and was last fully overhauled in our repair shop.

You'd be hard pressed to find a better condition SBA alto. This horn looks pristine regarding the body tube, bell and bell flare. It also includes the original neck which is in superb condition and has never been pulled down. One point of note on the alto is the bow cap was slightly pushed in at some point in the past. (Picture 17) The good news is the cap did its job and protected the bow which is still in nice original condition. Looking over the saxophone very closely there is no other signs of past major repair. There have been no re-solders on this saxophone. All of the key guards and guard feet are in excellent original condition.

This horn was re-padded a few years ago in our shop by Chris Watrous. Since then it has seen minimal play time. Matched with metal resonators, it was set up ideally for an SBA with a medium-open key height and a slightly lighter spring tension. It feels like butter under your fingers! This sax will get a final check over before shipping, where we’ll make sure everything is still tight and sealing well before it goes out.

This is definitely a world-class alto. Silver plating usually means the horn has a darker tone, but this alto still has a vibrant and "live" sound. Very full throughout the range of the horn. Ships out in perfect playing condition with Selmer wood hard case.
