HELP, I Want One!

Vintage Selmer Paris 1950 – SBA Tenor Sax
This is a vintage Selmer Paris Super Balanced Action tenor saxophone in original lacquer, serial number 43406. It is always exciting to have a killing playing SBA in the shop and this one is no exception. This tenor has exceptionally quick and responsive air intake which aids in the production of a tremendous sound. As you would expect from any SBA the key action feels crisp and fluid under the fingers allowing for an comfortable play. This particular tenor is noticeably brighter and slightly more focused then the later SBA models, specifically regarding when Selmer started to move towards the Mark VI in 1953 -54.
The SBA does show off an original lacquer finish with the classic dark honey hue. It also features crisp floral engraving across the bell area stretching all the way down to the bow. There is some history of mild solder and dent repair on the tenor but it is in tremendous condition for its vintage. All of the original key work and key guards are intact on the saxophone. At some point in the past there was some solder repair done on the split bell key guards. The body tube, bow, bell, bell flare are all in excellent condition. Its bow cap is also in outstanding shape and was never pushed in. The original neck with matching serial number is with this saxophone. The neck was previously pulled down just a bit but will be brought back up to its true position in the Saxquest shop.
This tenor is currently in line in the Saxquest shop for a professional overhaul. The Saxquest overhaul will include a complete dissemble, cleaning ad precise key fitting. We will also take out the small ding on the bow as part of the work. Once the body work is complete it will be fitted with a brand new set of Valentino premium pads, metal resonators, new corks, felts and a precise key regulation. This saxophone ships out in perfect playing condition. If you have been looking for a players SBA this is a nice way to get into one for just under the double digit price range.
