Mark VI Tenor - High F#
This is a vintage original lacquer Selmer Paris Mark VI tenor saxophone, serial #189002. These later vintage Mark VI are noticeably more focused then the earlier models. This one in particular does have a very balanced sonic timbre and should also be considered on the dark side of the color spectrum. It takes the air in nice and easy with the perfect amount of positive resistance. This is a extremely flexible saxophone and could be used in any musical genre. The tenor is also keyed to high F#.
The body of the saxophone is in great shape sporting the original lacquer finish. The body tube, bow, bell and original neck are all in solid condition showing some standard repair history. There has been a few re-solders to the key guard feet of the low Eb key guard. The bow are is in very good condition but the bow cap has been previously pushed in slightly. This saxophone does include the original neck. The original neck has had a previous repair to the octave key saddle.
As you would expect from a great Selmer the key work on the tenor is fantastic. The keys and pearls feel nice under the fingers and allow for fluid movement across the entire instrument. This tenor came into our shop sitting on some very old pads. As such it is currently in the Saxquest shop awaiting a professional overhaul. The overhaul will include a complete disassemble and cleaning followed by precise key fitting. It will then be set-up with a brand new set of premium leather Valentino pads, brown plastic resonators, corks, felts and a thorough key regulation.
If you are looking for a dark Mark VI and want to stay out of the big money price range this is a great way to do it. This saxophone ships in perfect playing condition with a fresh Saxquest overhaul.
