This is a vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI tenor saxophone in original lacquer, serial number 114663. It shows off an original lacquer finish as well as the original neck with matching serial number. The sax was previously owned by an active pro player but remains in tremendous shape despite regular use. There have been a couple smaller repairs over time but the work was done very well and the sax does not show any signs of having received major past trauma. This is a highly versatile player with a beautiful sonic character. It would be an ideal item for the professional in need of a Mark VI to use in a multitude of musical settings.
The physical body of the saxophone is in solid condition. All of the original key work, guards and key pearls are present and in nice condition. There is one solder repair on one of the feet to the low C key guard. The body tube, bow and bell are all in very nice shape showing a normal amount of cosmetic wear, with signs of light past dent work in the bottom bow. It is with the original neck with matching serial number stamp. It shows similar cosmetic character to the rest of the saxophone but has never been pulled down.
The tenor was just professionally adjusted in our repair shop, with the work being performed by our senior tech, George Bunk. George replaced a number of pads, regulated the stacks, adjusted key heights and spring tensions, and replaced all material. The premium leather pads and brown nylon resonators are all in great shape.
This tenor has a rich and ultra smooth response to air, and is extremely free blowing. The core of the sound stays very balanced while providing a medium warm color and crystal clear projection. Ships in perfect playing condition with a used Hiscox hard case.
