This is a very pretty original lacquer Selmer Paris Mark VI alto saxophone, serial number 168384. If you are looking for a horn that has spectacular look, feel and sound you will want to take a close look at this alto. It is sporting a great original lacquer finish with crisp floral engraving. The original key pearls also feel fresh and have not been overly worn down. This saxophone was overhauled last year in our shop and is still playing like an absolute dream.
The physical body of this alto very clean showing around 90% of the original lacquer finish. There is some pitting under the lacquer around the lower area of body tube and bow. This is a somewhat common occurrence and is only cosmetic. The bell received a past silver solder repair on the far side of its outer flare. ( see picture ) One of the lower key guard feet was also re-soldered. The solder work was done very well. This sax does include the original neck. It is in very good physical condition, it has never been pulled down.
This alto received a mechanical overhaul in our shop last year and came back into our shop playing perfectly. The work features a new set of Valentino pro pads and brown nylon resonators. All of the pads and key materials are still in new condition. The alto plays with a smooth response to air flow while showcasing a clear forward projecting sonic character. This is a highly flexible instrument and has exceptional control and projection. This is a very ideal instrument for players looking for a VI to use in a wide variety of musical jazz settings. The saxophone is playing great now but we will check it out in our shop once more before shipping to ensure it leaves in perfect playing condition.
