Selmer Mark VI

This is a great original lacquer Selmer Pairs Mark VI alto from 1969, serial number 162845. If you are looking to get a great pro player and do not mind a little bit of cosmetic character this Mark VI is perfect. The Mark VI's from the mid and late sixties were slightly more focused then the early five digit models. The little bit of extra focus and clarity in their sound make them very flexible instruments ideal for the musician who plays in a larger number of musical situations. This one in particular has a sweet dark color to the way it plays. The key feel is smooth and fluid under the fingers allowing for a comfortable easy play.

Physically this saxophone is in solid condition while showing typical cosmetic character for a horn that has seen its fair share of performances. The original lacquer has a nice dark honey hue to it which is further complemented by the floral engraving. Its body tube, bow and bell are all in very good shape. The bow cap is perfect and has never been pushed in or abused. It does look like there has been some smaller dings taken out in the bow area but nothing too serious. The bell flare is in excellent condition and has never been repaired. This saxophone shows no history of major re-solders. All of the original key guards, posts and guard feet are in excellent condition. This alto includes the original Mark VI neck in outstanding condition. It has never been pulled down.

This sax came into the shop on a nice set of leather pads and brown plastic resonators. It is currently in line in our shop for a professional set-up. The Saxquest set up will include a complete dissemble and cleaning before the horn is precisely regulated. All of the cork and felt work will also be changed out. Do not miss out on a super sweet players Mark VI alto!
