Selmer Paris - 1968
This is a vintage original lacquer Selmer Paris Mark VI alto saxophone, serial number 160165. If you are looking for a nice playing original lacquer VI this one is going to be easy to fall in love with. It is currently in the Saxquest shop awaiting a professional overhaul and will soon be in perfect playing condition. The saxophone was professionally played and maintained by the last owner. It shows the history of being well played but is in excellent physical condition.

This alto plays with a sweet and focused core sound. It is a very flexible horn regarding its smooth and easy response to air flow. This particular Mark VI should be considered to be relatively free blowing in comparison to the modern Selmer models but in contrast is noticeably more focused then the earlier Mark VI's from the earlier 1960's and late 50's.

The key work on the horn feels nice a fluid under the fingers allowing for an efficient play. This alto features all of the original key work, posts and key guards. The body tube, bow and bell are all in nice shape. Both the bow cap look terrific and show now signs for ever receiving any major repair. There is a couple of re-solders on the key guard feet of the low Bb and B key guard and a re-solder to the low C post. This saxophone includes the original Mark VI neck. The neck shows signs of past repair and a re-soldered octave key saddle.

This saxophone is currently in Saxquest shop awaiting a professional overhaul. The overhaul includes a dissemble and cleanup followed by key fitting and replacement of materials. When complete it will show off a fresh set of Valentino leather pads, brown plastic resonators, corks, felts and a ultra crisp regulation of the key work. If you are looking for a super sweet player you will not want to snooze on this 1968 vintage Mark VI.
