Gorgeous Original Lacquer
This is lovely Buescher 400 Top Hat and Cane tenor saxophone in original lacquer, serial number 312425. If you are looking for a beautiful example of a THC you are going to have a hard time beating this one. It is in outstanding physical condition. It shows off original amber rollers, gold plated Norton springs, Buescher “Snap” metal resonators and larger sized bell with ring. The bell features gorgeous hand engraving with a lovely centerpiece which includes the classic Top Hat and Cane above the Buescher 400 bell stamp. These tenors are among some of the most free blowing saxophones ever manufactured. They take the air in quick and have an effortless response with a lot of power and volume. These are perfect instruments if you are looking for a low amount of resistance.
The THC tenor came into our shop on most of the original pads. As such it is currently in the Saxquest shop awaiting a professional overhaul. The Saxquest overhaul will include a complete dissemble and cleaning followed by a precise set-up with new Valentino premium pads, new corks and felts. It will be overhauled with the preservation of the Buescher snap resonators and the Norton springs. Once complete the saw will be in perfect playing condition. The overhaul will also include cleaning up the small dings around the bow area and the small ding on the neck.
This tenor is in tremendous physical condition for its vintage. It does show some modest play wear. There is a previous repair to the low C post. ( picture ) The body tube, bow and bow cap are all in nice original condition. Its bell flare is also in beautiful condition and has never been pulled down or repaired in the past. This saxophone does include the original neck with under slung octave key. It has a small ding which will be taken out while its in our shop. It has never been pulled down and the under brace is also in great original condition.
If you are looking for an amazing free blowing tenor complemented by a lot of class you will not want to let this 400 Top Hat and Cane out of your sight.
