HELP, I Want One!

King Zephyr – Gold Lacquer Vintage 1940
This is a vintage original lacquer King Zephyr alto saxophone, serial number 247793. These early Zephyr's are a nice choice if you are looking for the Super 20 sound but do not want to drop the big bucks. They are also ideal for anyone looking for a reliable gigging horn with a powerful voice. This Zephyr in particular is fresh off the repair bench of Saxqeust tech Josh Creekmore.  Josh went through the sax top to bottom and gave it a fresh overhaul. It now is in perfect playing condition and features a new set of  Tru-Seal synthetic pads, metal flat disc resonators as well as all new felts and corks. That being said the horn plays fantastic and features an incredibly responsive feel under the fingers. The synthetic pads also allow the key work to be extremely quiet. So if loud key clicks is a thing that you find annoying then you will fall in love quite quickly.
The body of the alto is in very straight forward condition for a horn of its vintage. It shows some standard play wear here and there but nothing too serious. The original lacquer has the proper look to it with a dark honey hue. The body tube, bow, bell and bell flare are all in very nice original condition. Its bow cap is perfect and was never pushed in. This saxophone includes the original double socket neck with matching serial number stamp. The neck is in great shape. At some point in the past there was a repair to the octave key saddle. The solder work repair as done professionally and is hard to spot if you are not looking carefully.
This vintage of Zephyrs features open faced bell key guards on low Bb, B, C and Eb. It also showcases a double socket neck and a triple ring neck strap hook. As a player this alto can be pushed very hard. This is the kind of horn you are not going to have issues with if you want to push a ton of air into it. Projection and the level of power this alto is capable of is very impressive. In comparison to a lot of the later Zephyrs and Super 20's this one does seem just a hair darker.
This alto ships out in perfect playing condition with a box hard case.
