King Super 20 Tenor – 1946

This is an early vintage King Super 20 tenor saxophone, serial number 281093. These first series Super 20 tenors feature pearl touches on side keys, palm keys, alt F# and G# key touches. The S1 also showcases sunburst engraving on the pad cups of Low Bb, B, C and C#. This is a very robust player with a fat core sound with a powerful voice and ample projection. If you are looking for a free blowing tenor with a lot of power this is going to be an easy instrument to fall in love with.

The pictures of the tenor tell its story the best. It has had an active life with history of repair. At some point in the past the horn was re-lacquered. At this point the sax is in raw brass finish showing a lot of the natural brass patina from years of use. There has been a healthy amount of past solder and body repair. This sax is with the original sterling double socket neck with under-slung octave key. The neck also has history of repair.

This tenor was overhauled not too long ago in another pro shop and is on a set of nice leather pads and metal resonators. The pads are all in outstanding condition and have almost no play time on them. We will play test the sax and give it a quick bench check before shipping to ensure it leaves playing perfectly.
