This is a very nice, later vintage King Super 20 “SilverSonic” tenor sax, serial number 675197. The Silver Sonic models feature a true sterling silver bell and sterling silver neck, and this one also has gold inlay in the engraving on the bell, giving a premium look. Completely original, this tenor looks fantastic and is a sweet player too.

The pictures tell the tale on this one. It looks stunning, with greater than 95% original finish intact. There is some light scratching on the back side of the bell and body tube, where it may rest against the player during play. The only other noticeable wear is some light lacquer wear on a few keys and touch points. There are absolutely no dents or dings, and no resolders anywhere. The original sterling silver neck has never been pulled down or damaged.

This sax was repadded a few years ago, using premium white roo pads and gold Maestro resonators. The pads are mostly still in great shape, with lots of life left in them. We just completed a full pro set up on it, where we did replace a few pads with traditional brown leather pads (Valentino Pro's). We also replaced all of the material, and optimized key heights and spring tensions. The sax is in perfect playing shape and ready to go!

The early Super 20's get all the attention by the collector's market, but if you are a pure player looking for a solid horn, you can't go wrong here. This tenor takes all of the air you can throw at it and doesn't quit on you. It is a powerful horn and generates a ton of projection and edge without a lot of effort. And to top it off, it has a look that turns heads. A fantastic all around horn for the price. Ships in its original King hard case.
