HELP, I Want One!

Conn Chu – Berry Soprano
This is a 1926 vintage Conn New Wonder II “Chu-Berry” soprano saxophone in original silver plate, serial number 173738. These sopranos are superb free blowing instruments and are very indicative of the early jazz age. They take the air in super quick and feature a colorful free blowing response with an ample amount of brilliance. The New Wonder II is the ideal choice for anyone after the sound and vibe of a pre-1930's saxophone.
The Chu soprano does features all of the classic Conn mainstays including rolled tone holes, fingernail file G# and a gold wash around the bell flare. All of the key work on this saxophone is original. The sax also has the original key pearls and pearl key rollers. Physically this saxophone is in excellent condition from top to bottom showing some standard cosmetic character for its vintage. It shows off the original satin silver plating with crisp engraving above the bell. There is some small and hard to see dings around the upper body tube area but nothing major. The saxophone shows no history of major past repair. There has been no solder repairs on this saxophone in the past.
This soprano came into our shop playing nicely on a very old set of pads and metal resonators. Ultimately if you plan on doing a lot of serious playing on this saxophone it is going to need to be overhauled before it could be considered in perfect playing condition. In order to keep the final cost down we are currently selling this saxophone in as is condition.
