Conn 30M Tenor
This is a vintage Conn 30M “Connquerer” tenor saxophone in gold lacquer, serial #294815. At the time they were manufactured the Connquerer was considered to be Conn's elite professional line. They are also considered to be one of the most powerful and free blowing horns ever made. Its construction features Naked Lady engraving on the bell, rolled tone holes and nickel silver on the touch points for the side and palm keys. The original 30M neck is with this saxophone and is in great shape.

Like many of the other vintage Conns out there this one has been re-lacquered at some point. It was done well and was most likely done a long time ago. The signature Conn engraving is clear and well defined. Looking carefully over the horn you can see some areas where some mild body repair work has been performed, notably around the upper bow area. Aside from the traces of past work the overall condition of the bow and cap is in great shape. The body tube and tone holes are also in good condition.  All of the original key work and guards are on the horn and are in good condition as well. Unfortunately the original rollers on the left hand table keys are not in great shape and a couple of them have already fallen off. If you are going to be using this saxophone for serious playing it would be most advisable to have those replaced.

It looks like someone did a basic overhaul on this horn many years ago and it has mostly just been sitting since then. They used slim Conn reso pads with metal resonators. The quality of the work was good enough to get the horn to basic playing condition. At this time it is playing down to low Bb through some leaks. Because the 30M is a complex saxophone this tenor will ultimately need to be overhauled by a tech with experience working on a 30M before it can be considered in perfect playing condition. At least some if not all of the rollers will also need to be replaced during the job. Due to the huge back up in our shop we are offering this saxophone in as is condition at a lower price.

This saxophone ships out playing in as is condition with a non original vintage Conn wood hard case. It should be noted this saxophone is not with its trill G# chromatic key.
