Pictured above is an interesting piece of history, a Buescher True-Tone C soprano saxophone, serial number #159785. These saxes were not kept as standard after the era of the True-Tone saxophone, this one is playing on an older set of pads and materials, so it could use an overhaul. However, to keep costs down, we are offering this one in as-is condition.

This one came into our shop playing on an older set up from another shop. We are selling this one in as is condition at a low price.

The True-Tone is Bueschers first model to mass produce in the US, and this one is from the middle of the run in 1924. The C soprano is keyed from low Bb up to only palm Eb with a back-door trill D#/Eb option in the lower stack. Standard C and Bb side keys included, a chromatic alternate F# as well. This one in particular has seen some past body and solder repair but is currently sitting in good condition and looks like it was being regularly played until recently.

These True-Tone saxes are fun to play and have a widespread sweet character. The intonation on this one is a rather difficult even with a C soprano mouthpiece. It looks like it was being regularly used by the last owner on a mix of older and slightly newer pads leather pads. Ultimately it could be made better with some general service work or a full re-pad if you wanted to start from scratch. Because of the age of this instrument it is not ideally a good match for a young student or for professional use.

This instrument ships in as is condition with original case and mouthpiece.
