Buescher Big B Tenor – Repair Shop Special

This is a nice Buescher Big B tenor saxophone in original silver plate, serial number 2948440. These old Buescher are classic American vintage items. They are considered very free blowing players and tend to have a slightly tighter core response when directly compared to the Conn tenors from the same period. This one has not been seriously serviced in a very long time and will need a restoration and some body work before it can be considered in perfect playing condition.

The body of the tenor is in solid condition showing off its silver plate finish and all of the original key work with amber rollers. Some but not all of the Norton gold plated springs are still present on the saxophone. At this time there are some smaller dings along the body in addition to a dent along the bow for the sax. The saxophone is also with the original neck. It was slightly pulled down at some point in the past.

At this time this sax is playing on its existing pads through leaks and noisy key work. Ultimately it will need to be completely overhauled with some body work before it is going to be ready for any serious playing.
